Turtles, too for that matter. I saw a couple of turtles sunning on logs that were in the open water areas of the icy pond. Tough critters!swamp4mehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03500364141244115390noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10279728.post-3959721373925085972010-01-16T15:31:48.546-05:002010-01-16T15:31:48.546-05:00Not sure I cold adapt to living any farther north ...Not sure I cold adapt to living any farther north either -- and I know I'd have to leave my wife behind.

I'm often amazed at how quickly the overwintering insects emerge when the weather warms up.Marvinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03374936227735741953noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10279728.post-67038328781366975512010-01-16T07:28:04.854-05:002010-01-16T07:28:04.854-05:00Kenneth,

Perhaps I have become more attuned to them lately because I seem to be finding them all over the place.

Woodswalker,
I guess snow, good snow, would make it more bearable :) But you all have my undying respect -- I just don't think I would deal well with constant cold.swamp4mehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03500364141244115390noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10279728.post-67741385081593827502010-01-15T22:57:59.912-05:002010-01-15T22:57:59.912-05:00We northerners stand the cold by wearing lots and ...We northerners stand the cold by wearing lots and lots and lots and lots of warm clothes. And by just adoring snow. Deep cold soft sparkly dry snow. Not mushy stuff. Not freezing rain. But yeah, it does last way too long.Jacqueline Donnellyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13390548854179921303noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10279728.post-7138364165015910122010-01-15T19:43:04.140-05:002010-01-15T19:43:04.140-05:00The mill pond looks inviting. I have only seen evidence of one Potters Wasp in my area and that was about a little over a year ago. I found one "pot" on the stem of a Butterfly Weed, out back of the apartment in a small field. It is amazing how those little wasps do that, fantastic works of art they are.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
