Betwixt and between. Transforming from tadpole to frog, this little fellow will be dependent on its fine fat tail for nourishment until its mouth fully forms. Looks a little odd without a big froggy smile.
I always thought it was kinda cool that they could live off the fat stored in their tails while their mouths switched from little tadpole shape to wide-mouth frog shape.

I guess it makes sense that there'd be an inbetween stage, but I had never thunkabudit.
I've seen a zillion bull and leopard frogs in this half state, but never a tree frog. Neato!
An outside rainwater aquarium of mine (up on a stand) has a swarm of tiny black tadpoles in it today.
Curious to see who they are.
