Normally I don't like to post pictures of spiders unless I can ID them but I'm going to make an exception this time. This jumping spider, sitting atop Flamebrain's very red car, was just too cute to leave languishing in a file on my computer. ( As soon as I key him out I'll be back with an ID.)

He needs a shave. Does that help in IDing him?
Cute?!?!?
Everything about him says: "I eat you. I eat you alive, baby!"
Cute:
1. puppies
2. babies
3. bunnies
.....
Cute NOT:
1. monsters
2. dead things
3. spiders
.....
Aw, come on guys...check out that face, those eyes, the perky attitude. He is so cute I 'bout can't stand it.
And yes, Mr. B., those hairs are diagnostic and will help me ID him. I had to go learn to use a sling with my service shotgun today so I haven't had a chance to key him out - but I will.
Lynne dittos here ...notice she did NOT mention kittens in the cute column :)
I got close and stared, like one of those magic eye books, and for a second a caught a glimmer of cute and then it was gone.
Shotgun, sheesh. How BIG is this spider?!

You're getting there - just relax and hold on to the cute a little longer next time.

We grow 'em big here but I think I could have taken him out with #8 bird shot. :)
It looks like Phidippus audax to me.

Not P. audax, although I can see why you'd think so from this angle. P. audax has an all black cephalothorax, this spider had white banks on the sides of the cephalothorax.
