THERE you are, Swampy! I've missed your always delightful posts for some time now. Hope all is well. That snake is a beauty. What kind is it?

All is well, I've just had some internet issues. The snake is a rat snake, a very common species around here.

Swampy lives! Hooray! Pretty nature pictures! Bald cypress are preparing for winter in your neighborhood. Larch trees look the same in my neighborhood. Still in Maine for another two weeks then off to Texas.

That's a ratsnake we don't see around here.
The pond looks beautiful.

Beautiful view of the pond.

Ah, yes, the infamous larch trees! Stay warm up there in Maine and be careful on your journey south.

We occasionally see a green rat here but most of our rat snakes are black rats. We don't have those gray guys that you have down your way.

sweet bay,
The pond is really pretty in the fall. I particularly like the rust color of the baldcypress.

Glad to see you're meandering about the internets again! You've been missed.

I see that's the typical "No pictures!" snake pose. And what a picturesque view of the swamp. Makes me want to grab a canoe and lose myself amongst the cypress...

Meandering is about all I can do. There is something amiss with my DSL and connecting and staying connected has become a challenge. I would make a comment about Embarq service, but my mother always told me that if I couldn't say anything nice I shouldn't say anything at all ;)
