Wonderful! I could not help but respond with a picture of our local pond last week in Quebec where a Land Art exhibition was happening. http://gillesarbour.wordpress.com/2010/10/21/fall-on-the-pond/
I was thinking about the mill pond today. The time we ventured up to the huge cypress tree at the top of the creek that fills into the millpond. Have you ever seen it? You have to drag over a few logs and leave the state park.
Karen, Come on down! We'll be happy to give you a personal tour if you come.
FC, Yeah, I saturated that one a bit. The camera didn't capture the light so I had to play with the photo.
gillesarbour, I saw that - the blue sculpture is outstanding.
Randy, I've been to that tree more times than I can count. Treebeard used to lead paddles up to it every winter/early spring. As a matter of fact there are several pictures of it back in my archives.
Ellen, Our leaves are starting to fall, but we'll still have some well into November. We haven't had a frost yet -- although I hear there is a chance of frost tonight...
Swamp Thing, the only color was in the wettest places. The trees in the woods did the same as the trees in your area - leaves turned brown and fell off.
Carol, A magical realm is a good description of the millpond. We have been paddling here for over 30 years and each time we're on the water is special.

These photos are divine! So rich and clear - almost as good as being there. I hope to have an opportunity to visit your area someday. ~karen
WHOA! THAT 3RD PIC IS POSITIVELY RADIOACTIVE! THE COLORS!
All our color is in wetland areas down here and it's barely started.

Oh, very lovely! Our trees are now bare, but the larches are starting to turn, so gold and green are the colors of the day.

Those photos are amazing! Love all the colours.
NICE colors! Drought up here did our leaves in months ago. Now all are turning yellow & falling off the trees. Crazy weather!
Ashelle, thanks. The pond was pretty this year.

These photos are transporting . . . I feel as though I am visiting a magical realm. Stunning! What a place to paddle! ;>)
