Mush!

One of the things I like about my job is that you just never know what a day is going to bring. Take yesterday for example. I was on bridge duty signing in hikers and bikers when in rolled a truck full of sled dogs. Sled dogs, in a southern swamp? I guess it's just one of those bloom-where-you're-planted sort of things.

Anticipation...

Hurry up, Dad!

A final adjustment of a harness...

And they're off!

Too cool definitely a first for me in NC. Wish I could have seen this in person.

Let's hope your world is full of neat, little surprises such as this!

There used to be summer mushers using the trails over at Pack Forest, a demonstration forest and former summer study facility for the forestry students at ESF (forestry college in Syracuse, NY). This is in Warrensburg, in the southern(ish) part of the Adirondacks.

Neat! I thought this was going to be a post snow messy muddy post.

karen,
Thanks. Little surprises like this are nice - much nicer than some of the surprises that pop up at work from time to time!

ellen,
I had never seen sled dogs in person. It was fun to see how much they really wanted to pull.

FC,
I have plenty of that kind of mush I could show you - there is STILL snow on the ground around here. Ridiculous!

Patrice,
It was cool :)

awesome. =) yes, they look VERY EXCITED TO RUN. =) And extraordinarily healthy. Dogs doing what dogs love to do. Fun to see. =)

biobabbler,
Excited is an understatement! The dogs "talked" the whole time. They drank some orange juice along with their water when they got done with their run.

Guess (hope) there's a break on that thing. Could be exciting otherwise

JSK,
There was a brake -- but it was still exciting. I was waiting for the "sled" to tip over on the bridge when they shot across.
