Look Out Below

Late this afternoon as I was walking the boardwalk at work, I came across an interesting sight.

It was an apparent bear scat, complete with black gum berries and seeds.  The weird thing was that it was a giant splat.  Hmmm, could it be that bears don't do it in the woods, but rather in the trees??

I looked up.  Way, way up...

So could that be the culprit?  Time to zoom in.

Yep, there, about 80 or 90 feet up, was a black bear.  He was happily munching out on black gum berries.  Guess he couldn't be bothered to climb down the tree to answer nature's call.  Instead, he just let fly from above.

Let this be a reminder to one and all -- take the time to look up now and then.  And wear a hat.

But not a Tilley hat. That stuff would never wash out.

I am not a fan of bears (I want them to live long, healthy lives..away from me)..and this just puts the foul icing on the cake! Now I'm going to develop an irrational fear of bears falling from trees.

Amazing shots!!!

WOW! In the first picture, I thought it was a big nest. Then I saw its face. TOO cool. =)

Oh, and I learned from a friend who was helping in a dolphin study (spending many hours on small boats), that's also how one uses then facilities when there are none and you're on a boat all day. =)

That's just too funny! And what a great shot (the photographer, not the pooper).

Oh yes in a Tilly hat ! There was a famous ad here in Canada involving an elephant keeper. Apparently his Tilly hat had been eaten by the elephants several times ! He'd find it ... in the errrr ... ummm ... you know ... wash it off and then wear it.
