I absolutely love snails. Don't know why. Maybe it's the eyes. Maybe it's the spiral of the shell. Maybe it's just because they are so darn cute...
I'd love to be able to tell you the name of this particular critter but I'm afraid that's outside of my skill set. Think I'll just call him/her
Winky and let it go at that.

Awwww. "Winky" That is a cute critter. Disney could easily morph him/here into the hero/heroine of some great nature saga. Hmmm. It would take place deep in a swamp in North Carolina . . . .
Get busy on that script -- I'll go out and find some more critter characters ;-)
Cute snail... maybe as cute as the bunny below.
I'm so not with you on this. :)
Aw, come on now, AC...how can you not like snails?
If it's any consolation, I don't care for shell-less slugs - particularly when I step on them with my bare feet in the middle of the night ;)
Turtles are in your skill set, though, right? Even turtles that might be found in Alabama? On somebody else's blog? Somebody who thinks it doesn't look exactly like ANY of the pictures in the turtle book???
I almost never find snails at Roundrock. I know we have them since I find the shells sometimes, but I think we are too dry to support many varieties.
If he were a little bigger, he'd be good in wine sauce..
just kidding - he is cute, in his own special way...
The wine sauce comment isn't too off-base. According to what The Google has revealed to me, the common snails that overwhelm my plants during Arizona's summer rainy season are descendants of escargot brought over to Calif. for the gourmet trade and since spread via the nursery trade. Nice pic, in any event.
