Yep, it's introduced. "Real" name is Verbascum thapsus.

I came over from Rurality...great site.

These look like some things I've seen up here at Lake Tahoe in the marshes (we used to call it the swamp). It's not blooming yet because the season is short and the snow just left, but it looks very similar. Do you know where this is native and would it grow at 6300 ft?

Woolly mullein tends to grow in open fields and meadows. This particular plant was in high ground next to the pond - a fairly dry area.

Being non-native it can tend to be invasive, so it's not necessarily a plant you would want to have around. There is some good information on it on this website:
