Go Slowly and Share the Road

While on patrol in the park I have to be ever mindful of traffic...
If I had one of those speedy internet connections I would have included some of the other travelers on the road. Like the young turkeys, the green snake, the black racer, the black bear (he declined to be photographed), the umpteen butterflies, the marsh rabbit, and the mystery rodent that I just barely caught a glimpse of as he dove into the brush. Life on the road - ain't it grand?

What a treat - beats the heck out of rush-hour traffic.

Love those quail.

wren,
I whole-heartedly agree! I'll take the critters any day.

pablo,
That pair of quail was quite entertaining. They stayed on the road, running ahead of me, for a long time. When they finally flew, dust poured from their feathers. Guess I interrupted one of their dust baths on the sandy part of the road.

That's my kind of road! You must be pretty quick with the camera! Great shots.

lauraO,
I love this road. Today I saw some tiny quail chicks run across - alas, I was not fast enough with my camera to catch them. They were SOOOO cute!

Wow, you really do have a "heck of a job". That's what's so great about being in an area like that, you never know what treat you'll see next.

Wow, it is good to see quail. I can't remember when I last saw quail around here.
Lots of young turkey, but the quail seem to be missing.

PoP and jojo,
Yep, it is a heck of a job and I love what I do. Of course, some days are better than others... those days that require me to be in the office doing paperwork are not my favorite ;)

FC,
We are lucky to have quail. We don't have as many as we used to, but we do see and hear them regularly.
