Everyday observations in the woods and wetlands of northeastern North Carolina. May you have special places in your life that bring you the same joy I find in my swamps.

Wow on the male orangetip! Not an easy shot to get. Actually I have had good luck shooting them at Merchant's Millpond in the past.
Randy,
I never expect to get a decent shot of orangetips. The little suckers just won't sit still. That one was just a zoom shot off the boardwalk at work. I'm surprised it was even relatively in focus :)
Beautiful butterfly! And such a good capture. How did you sneak up on it? Your spring pictures are to die for, so crisp and clean and vibrant. Yay for spring!
P.S. I love your header! And I took time to read your reply to Randy. Guess it was a lucky shot with a capital L!!
Karen,
I was looking forward to getting out this weekend and taking some more spring photos -- alas, it seems Spring has the weekend off, too. We are experiencing cloudy skies and chilly temperatures.
Ahhh spring. It's another month before I'll see stuff like this here.
Sigh.
