Treebeard and I wandered the property this morning and Hannah decided to come with us. She'll be 15 years old in May and she doesn't do much walking any more, preferring instead to doze on the porch or on her bed under the kitchen table. Perhaps the pleasant spring weather motivated her this morning...more likely it was the banana that Treebeard was eating and the apple that I was eating. The dog is crazy for fruit! Whatever the motivation, it was nice to have her along for our walk. We know we won't have her company for too much longer and she's such a good old dog.

Friday, the _lepto _itten
There is a slight problem with my _eyboard. Seems that my new _itten, Friday, is a _leptomaniac. She leapt upon the _eyboard and absconded with both the j and the _ _eys. Luc_ily, we quic_ly found the j but the _ is still at large.
Such a naughty _itty!

Yet Another One
Seems we've been adopted by yet another kitty. This one is probably around four months old, appears very healthy, is very social, and was most likely intentionally dumped on the doorstep of our new house by someone eager to get rid of a kitten. Heavy sigh...I really did not intend to add another cat to the family. We had just adjusted to the loss of Bullet a couple of months ago and were content to be a one-cat, one-dog, one-fish, three-snake household. But what can one do? Those of us who know how these things work know full well that we don't choose the cats, the cats choose us ;)
The as yet un-named feline is spending its last night as an outdoor kitty. She is over at the new house with a warm box on the porch, along with a food bowl and some water. Tomorrow we go to the vet for a check up and shots and then it's time to meet Wicket (aka Wiki), our current cat, and begin a new life as an indoor cat.

Bullet Speaks His Mind
Excuse me...excuse me. You need to get off that computer and pay attention to me. You know I am the best cat you have - not that goofy Wiki. I couldn't help but notice that you have posted more photos of her than you have of me. An oversight on your part, I'm sure. Afterall, I've been your companion for fourteen years -- she's only been around for a measly two years. Now, move that mouse pad out of your lap and make room for me...

After Our Walk
Treebeard was trying to catch a nap when Wiki decided she needed to have her belly rubbed. Both seemed content. (Treebeard was not exactly a cat person when we met, but he has come around over the years. Guess he had to - around here it's "love me, love my cats.")

Altercations
Nope, she's not a happy cat. Not happy at all. She is peeved...
...with him. Note the little tuft of black kitty fur caught in his claw. But before you take her side there is something you should know, she split his ear for him a couple of days ago.
Yep, it's sooo peaceful around here with two cats just learning to get along. The icing on the cake...I think Wiki is going into heat. But poor Bullet, being neutered, can't figure out what's going on. He knows something interesting is happening, he just can't figure out how to participate.
Meanwhile us human types are just toughing it out until I can get an appointment to have Wiki spayed. Although I have noticed Wiki eyeing Treebeard with interest...the little tramp ;)

A Sucker, Pure and Simple
From a conversation back in August:
Flamebrain: Ma, I have a friend who needs a place for his cats to stay for a couple of weeks. Any way you could watch them? If he has to board them at a kennel it's gonna cost him a bundle.
Ma: You're sure he'll be able to get them in a couple of weeks, right? I have no interest in adopting two cats. We're trying to cut down on the number of pets we have around here.
Flamebrain: Yeah, he can get them in a couple of weeks. He'll be moving in with his girlfriend and they allow pets in her apartment complex. He'll provide all the food and litter.
Ma: Well, I guess it will be okay. Afterall, it's only a couple of weeks...
By the middle of December I had reached my limit. The male cat was spraying everywhere and the little female was getting neurotic from being kept upstairs. So, the cats were going back. Sorry if the owner had broken up with the girlfriend, sorry if it was gonna cost him money to board his cats, sorry if I expect grown men to be responsible pet owners. I couldn't stand having the cats living in near isolation upstairs, but there was no way I was letting that male come downstairs and spray everything (even though he was such a sweetie and absolutely beautiful and loved the way I scratched his neck for him...)
I called Flamebrain and told him to tell his friend that if he didn't get his cats they were going to the pound ASAP (HA! Like that would happen - but the friend has never met me and didn't know that.) The friend said he could take the male cat back, but he was going to have to take the female, whom he called Little Girl, to the pound.
