Keeping a Low Profile

Canada Goose nesting on a beaver lodge.
You will note, the swamp is not in Canada.
Wish the goose knew that. They are pretty birds and they are impressively protective parents, but they are also floating feathered fertilizer factories.

Sorry about that. Sometimes they get out.

We tried to close our northern Minnesota border but they just fly over when we're not looking...

Hugh,
I'm certain these are errant eastern Canada geese ;)

Lynne,
Well, I guess we can't blame them. It is nice south of the border...

How odd! Our Canada geese stay here in northern New York all winter, and yours are staying down south in the spring. We still hear their haunting calls in the fall, look up and see veed flocks flying, not south but west to east or vice versa, wherever a cornfield still has grain or a pond has water. Are the birds telling us something is all mixed up?
