On Wednesday's wander we really had to watch our step as there were babies out everywhere...
This little box turtle, probably a couple of years old, was smack dab in the middle of a heavily shaded trail. I just did see him in time to avoid stepping on him.
Newly transformed frogs were hanging out right at the water's edge...
While up from the shore line a bit, toadlets were everywhere...

Painfully cute!
How big is a two year old box turtle?
Lynn,
That turtle fit in the palm of my hand with plenty of room to spare.
How delightful to see nature's gifts so young in development! Turtles don't get very big in two years' time, do they. That thought certainly gives me pause. ~karen
Total cuteness! It certainly is that time of year now.
Mine looked like that months ago.

Hoping for the next round.
KaHolly,
There is something so fragile, yet resilient, about babies...
jason,
If the singing of the frogs is any indication there will be babies galore in a few weeks.
FC,
We are seriously considering digging a small pond on our property. There are eggs and/or tadpoles in anything that will hold water right now.
Those itty bitty frogs are adorable!
