We are in wait and watch mode here. If the storm moves as predicted, we will be at the very edge of winds in the tropical storm range. Currently, all law enforcement rangers in our area are on stand-by to help local officials if needed.
SQMojo, sorry, but it looks like Emerald Isle is getting pounded right about now. Ophelia has strengthened a bit and moved ever-so-slowly northward. The last report I saw was from Atlantic Beach and they were experiencing some flooding. And yes, I do consider hurricanes to be part of the natural balance. The swamp is amazingly resilient -- it's the human factors, such as polluted runoff, that tend to cause the problems.
Hey Bloggy, we're doing fine. I talked to my son at lunchtime today. He lives in Wilmington and they have been feeling the effects of this storm for the past three days. He said things weren't too bad but they have no power and don't know when it will be restored.
It's an amazing amount of power. Let's all put it to a vote and after this one is done, not schedule any more for another 40 years. We can do that, right?
Ophelia is the girl Ofie has the hots for... Today he plans to run over, tell he has a secret to tell her and when she leans down, SMOOCH, he'll kiss her on the cheek and run like hell!

Hang in there swampy! Don't let Opheila touch Emerald Isle!
What predictions do you make for your swamp? WIll the ecological balance be disturbed? Or do you consider stroms a part of that "natural" balance?
I'm glad you posted! Good sign for now anyway, huh?
