It's almost artsy-fartsy with all the shapes embedded in the slime.

You are quite the wizard of ooze.

Ick, indeed!

Well, I LIKE it! The algae is thick enough to have good color... nice, bright green. It's trapping bubbles beneath the surface and gathering debris for interest.

Very nice. : )

FC,
You know what they say, "When life gives you ooze, make it artsy-fartsy."

wren,
If I could ID the ick I would add it to our species list...alas, I am at a loss as to how to ID it. Such is life.

Susan,
It is definitely bright and it does make cool swirly shapes when you stir it up :)

I love this! If I had taken it, I would increase the statuation a little. I love going to Nags Head Woods to take photos and algae is a fav. The leaves add interest and the swirls are great. I would hate to fall in that though.

Maybe yuck, but certainly beautiful! Nature's wonder

reminds me of a Jackson Pollock painting.

As a pond or stream covering it is nasty but, as has been stated, as a piece of natural art, it is quite wonderful. Lovely colours, lines, and shapes.

My partner's fox terrier occasionally sicks up stuff that looks a lot like that. Only she gets acorns, baby sweetcorn, and small pieces of plastic into the mix as well.

Apparently algae is the biofuel of the future. That's green gold, that is ;)

melody,
I played with the picture a little, but in the end I liked it in its original state best. It is pretty in an icky sort of way.

jen,
You want me to send you some? ;)

lowspeed,
If only I could sell it for a Jackson Pollock price!

OW,
It is compelling when it gathers up like that. Reminds of the wrinkles on a shar-pei.

crowe,
You always make me laugh! ...I could add some sweet corn to the mix for more color -- can I borrow the dog??

All ya have to do is figure out how to hang it on a gallery wall.

marvin,
:) That would make a real mess :)
