Pickin' Up Pawpaws

Posted by Picasa

All is well here. We had only a little wind damage from Hanna and only about 1.5 inches of rain. Lucky for us it was a relative non-event. Not like the destruction wrought by Ike. Our thoughts are with those suffering the effects of that storm.

The reason there have been no posts for quite some time is because I have been crazy busy at work and at home. My dial-up connection was not conducive to making a quick post. Did you catch that past tense there? I'm grinning like a fool because as of tonight, Treebeard and I have joined the 21st century. We have high-speed internet! I just installed the modem and activated the service about an hour ago -- I have already checked all our email accounts, read a week's worth of your blogs and watched a video clip! I am giddy with joy :D

Oh, and how about the size of that pawpaw! Wouldn't take many of those to fill up your basket.

It's about time. I thought you were going to wait until the 22nd century. (Just kidding!!!)

Congratulations, SIL and Ratdog

Glad to hear everthing is good up your way.

Your pawpaws are living LARGE. Do bears eat those? Congrats on DSL. Does that mean we will see more of you? :)

The future is now! We missed you and worried you might have been blown away or eaten by a bear!

lynne,
I guess pawpaws are more common south of your neck of the woods! That is a particularly large specimen. Most of them are about half to two-thirds that size around here.

pushesrb,
Yeah, we've been waiting a llloooonnnnggg time to get high speed in this county :) So, how was your trip?

FC,
If we got high speed here, then you can't be too far behind. It certainly improves one's outlook on blogging! Now I can watch your videos. And yes, that is a whopper of a pawpaw.

SIL,
It was never a matter of not wanting it - it just wasn't available until now. We still aren't getting satellite TV though ;)

melody,
Bears love pawpaws. So do a host of other animals. Good thing, too. The pawpaw germinates better if the seed has passed through some critters gut.

denapple,
Nope, didn't blow away or get et by a bar. And yes, the future is now! I am delighted to be able to post pictures in a fraction of the time it took before.
