Sorting Out My Azaleas
This is Dwarf Azalea, Rhododendron atlanticum. I inadvertantly identified as pinxter flower the other day. My brain was on holiday I guess. The dwarf azalea is a low growing shrub with fragrant flowers...

this picture hurts my eyes! but i can't stop looking at it--i love the patterns and the contrast in color/no color . . .
I have just moved to the south (georgia) and the climate as well as the local flora and fauna are so different from northern indiana that I am having trouble discerning what or whom is growing in my yard. Any suggestions for a good book on southern wild plants or common animals? I have a Peterson's bird guide - but it is the snakes and spiders I am concerned about. Also-love love love looking at your pictures - I was a biology major - turned nursing student - but I am SO envious of your beautiful swamp and all the creatures!!
