I have shown you the salamanders, frogs, and snakes of last weekend's walk but I have neglected to share the turtles. So here you go, some turtles on a log...
sweet bay, The second one from the top is a yellow-bellied. I can't tell if the others are or not. They may be cooters. You can tell which ones are males though - check out the long "fingernails" on the first and third turtles.

I'm glad you didn't forget about the turtles! No rocks, but you do have turtles! Sweet photo. ~karen

For some reason that shot reminds me of my four children.
Lucky you! I still can't believe all these guys are out in January...
I call them bumps on a log.
It's nice to see bumper-to-bumper traffic isn't just a city problem. And just wait until there's a pileup...
KaHolly,
We once had a couple from Switzerland visit the swamp. They had never seen a real turtle...but I bet they had seen rocks ;)
Caroline,
Well said!
Pablo,
Were you ever able to get them lined up on a log?
Sally,
I'm amazed, too. How do they know that the air temperature is warm??
Lynn,
Lots of bumpy logs out there that day!
jason,
It's the head-on collisions that I dread ;)
Are those Yellow-Bellied Sliders? They look like racing turtles, so sleek. :)

Duh. I just realized you can make out the claws in this particular picture - sorry.
